Show week crew

At the Wilde Theatre, a typical show week starts early on the Sunday morning with the "get-in", which lasts all day and concludes with the Technical Rehearsal. The Dress Rehearsal takes place on the Monday evening, with the performances starting on Tuesday and finishing on Saturday. Finally, at the end of the last performance, there is the "get-out", when the stage is dismantled. Once that's complete, it's on to the after-show party!

Ideally, we are looking for people who can commit to the entire week of a show, but we always need extra bodies for the Get-in and Get-out. Previous experience isn't essential - we can provide training, and it's a great way to learn a new skill.

Things are on the whole rather simpler for shows at our own Pinewood Theatre - there's no need for the Get-in or Get-out, there's much more time to design and set up the lighting, and the number of people required back-stage is generally much smaller. That does not mean that we are not interested in further assistance, however - indeed, we would particularly welcome anyone who would like to flex their skills or learn some skills in lighting design, lighting and sound operation. You don't have to be experienced, rather have some idea of how these two essential elements work. We can, of course, give training and support. Commitment can be as little or as much as you want to make.

Pinewood Theatre building maintenance and management

EBOS's Pinewood Theatre is enjoying an increase in use from both EBOS itself and outside groups performing here. This is just how we hoped it would be and is now underpinning EBOS's finances. Our success is also underlining how short we are of Technical, Front of House keyholders. At the moment, our small band of these skills is somewhat stretched.

We would welcome probably retired or who are available during the day as well as evenings, to become keyholders to allow outside groups access to Pinewood. Full training (not exhausting, honest!!) will of course be given.

If you would like to become more involved with EBOS and join our friendly crew (who meet regularly on Monday and Thursday evenings), or would just like to find out more about the scope for joining in, please contact info@ebos.org.uk. We will both be pleased to walk you around the Theatre and explain its workings and what we can offer you. We look forward to seeing you at Pinewood.

MEET OUR PRESIDENT

Claudie Blakley

We are proud to have the very talented Claudie Blakley as our President. Claudie is a highly regarded screen and stage actress, whom most of us will have seen on the television in Gosford Park and Lark Rise to Candleford, as well as Silent Witness.

Claudie is an avid supporter of EBOS and regularly comes to see us perform as and when her busy schedule allows.
