East Berks Operatic Society (EBOS) has been around for well over 50 years and performs 2 major shows each year at South Hill Park's Wilde Theatre. Pinewood Leisure Centre is home to EBOS, its rehearsal and social centre, and has been for 35 years.
In 2003 EBOS realised its dream of having its own theatre when Wokingham District Council licenced the building, Pinewood Theatre. This was the culmination of years of work by the members led by Facilities Manager, Gordon Riley and fully supported by successive committees, that Pinewood stalwart, Dickie Dove and not least, the Parish Council. The Theatre boasts full theatrical lighting and sound systems, raked or flat seating, a lounge/foyer area and a kitchen. The workshop serves as a scenery construction, scenery dock and props storage area and has a cosy dressing room.
A wide variety of plays, musicals and concerts have been performed at The Pinewood Theatre since its official opening in November 2003. Some of these were EBOS productions, such as, Stepping Out, By Jeeves and Bouncers, whilst others have been brought to the theatre by outside companies i.e. ART (Blackeyed Theatre), Educating Rita (Cupcake Productions) and Abigail's Party (Lingo Productions).
If you have ever wanted to cut your teeth making a production, or if you are an experienced producer looking for a wonderful venue, EBOS has the perfect setting with technical know-how and advice to realise your dream. The Theatre is available to hire as a theatre or as a Hall facility. We suggest a maximum cast of 10 players.
